Once kids start to grow, their sense of curiosity also dwells. If they are bathing with their sibling, especially if they are of the opposite gender, kids can start observing differences in each other's bodies or even start comparing. Before they get all confused, as a parent, you should be the one explaining the details and make them aware of their anatomy.General consensus suggests that bath time, much like knowledge about other private parts and anatomy should happen by the age they start mingling with other kids, around the age of 5. Bath time can not just be a way for them to teach them independence, but a basic way of teaching them the essentials about privacy.So the right answer- there is no real set age for kids to start showering separately, but the question of comfort. Ask them if they are comfortable. Once a child shows or expresses disinterest, or feels awkward about his body, or sharing space with someone in the bathroom, or hesitates, consider it a time to have a discussion and stop co-bathing your kids.Remember, the ultimate aim behind bath time privacy is to teach your little ones how they can exercise good authority over their own bodies and be a little more independent.Most importantly, do remember to take in your child's consent into question. Do not force them to do something they don't like.Just as you separate bath times, there's also the question of your child being able to shower on their own. While this is a matter of discretion, experts suggest waiting for the child to be 6 or 7 years old at least before letting them experience bath time on their own.Just as you do, remember the goal is to make them appreciate and exercise control over their own body and not shame nudity. Using phrases like "shame shame", "nudity is bad" or frowning on how they look is a bad idea. Do not show off your own discomfort while teaching kids about the same. Kids are smart enough to pick up on that, along with verbal cues and project body image issues.
