The prize advertised for winning Survivor is $2,000,000, but in the end, the total shakes out a little different. Survivor pays all contestants, or castaways, who make it to the final tribal council, and typically each receives around $10,000 for the reunion show. The third-place winner can tack on an additional $85,000 (before taxes), with the second-place adding an extra $100,000. The amount of the first-place winner was updated in 2019 from one to two million dollars to attract more applicants.

How does one win the game?

It’s all in the name of the game - to win the cash, you have to be the lone survivor, meaning that a player must avoid elimination until the end.

How much have past winners taken home?

Cinema Blend reported on the earnings of one castaway that has been featured in more than one season. Corrine Kaplan earned $45,000 during Survivor: Gabon and an additional $20,000 when she came in 12th in Survivor: Caramoan. The former figure was more than double because Kaplan made it to the final tribal council. If many have an experience like Kaplans, it seems that the show may be a way to make a couple of thousand dollars. The same website reported that most castaways walk away with anywhere between $12,000- $100,000. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t always seem like people are after the money, or at least the producers ensure that it does not appear that. Often people cite personal challenges in their daily lives that they hope to overcome, meet others, or increase their confidence, as reasons for them signing up - the possibility of the prize money is a plus to the overall experience.

How many people tuned into the Survivor season premiere?

Around 5 million tuned in live to watch the forty-third season premiere of Survivor on CBS. It received the highest score, .0.79, in the 18-49 age demographic, which is a prime space for advertisers. The show went head to head against FOX’s The Masked Signer, which only attracted around three million viewers and ranked fifth across rating scores. FOX, which has seen viewership for The Masked Singer drop off since its initial release, pulled out all the stops for last-nights show. If the two celebrities were eliminated, or “unmasked” is any indication, viewers may be in for a surprise. Last night Eglish and Canadian actors, Eric Idle and William Shatner. Idle sang “Love Me Do,” which he says he received permission from Paul McCartney to perform.

Ozzy kicked out of Black Sabbath

After a long run of increasingly erratic drink and drug fuelled behaviour Ozzy Osbourne was finally sacked by his band members. It had been a difficult time musically for Black Sabbath, who'd been finding it hard to motivate themselves in the studio. This was exaggerated by the fact that Ozzy barely turned up to the studio at all. The frictions in the band came to head when Tony Iommi decided that he wanted to replace Ozzy. This was more of a release for Osbourne, who felt he wanted to go in a different musical direction anyway.
