I’m sure you may have sometimes been asked what you would take with you to a desert island, right? But do we really know just what we need to stay safe while we’re living alone in a paradise? Living on a desert island has its advantages: you can have a dip in a different corner of the island each day; the sea’s a part of you. In a word, life on an island has a different pace. Landscapes are framed in fascinating blue waters that will steal your breath away. We have all seen movies or read books in which the protagonist is abandoned on a desert island with nothing more than his intelligence to survive. Can you imagine finding yourself in the same situation? It’s time to embark on a new adventure and fill your backpack with experiences. That’s why we’ve made a list of necessary things to take with you to a desert island. Let’s begin!

1. Fishing net

The most important thing: food. Fish is the best option for feeding ourselves and keeping hunger at bay. That’s why having a fishing net is bound to help you catch fish more easily.

2. A box of matches

The fish needs to be cooked. Besides, it really cools down a lot at night on desert islands. A fire will be your best ally for eating hot meals and for staying warm. Who wants to make fire by rubbing two stones together?

3. Hammock

Most desert islands are chock-full of trees, and a hammock would be the perfect option for sleeping. Comfortably and at a height from the ground to avoid being bitten by certain insects.

4. Insect repellent

Protecting yourself from insects is very important. There are all kinds of insects on desert islands and some can give you an allergic reaction. Prevention is better than cure!

5. Sun protection

The sun gets very hot during the day. So we must protect our skin from the sun’s rays and thus avoid wearisome burns. Our skin must always be well cared for.

6. Torch

There’s no electricity on a desert island. We’ll need a torch to illuminate our area when night falls and we don’t want to be left in the dark.

7. Knife

A knife like the one Crocodile Dundee himself would take along is indispensable for cutting the fruit off trees, splitting coconuts, chopping up food…

What attract cannibals in The Forest?

To my understanding: Trees only aggrivate cannibals if they catch you cutting them down, they can hear you cutting down trees if they are nearby and will then investigate the noise. ... They very often spawn when a fire is lit, especially at night and even more so with bonfires. ... Cannibal bodies will attract attention also. More items... •

Cannibal behaviour, facts?

People are saying that if you kill them alot or cut down trees they'll come after you. Well, both these actions are required for survival/basebuilding so it's not really an option to not do that.

If I have a base that's not in the middle of a patrol, they will not come knocking on my gates, but when I'm running about the island their patrols grow in size the more days I've survived. Is this based only on days survived or is it also connected to how many cannibals I've killed or how many trees I've chopped?

Would be nice to have facts about their behavior and not just theories. Someone must've tested surviving for 100 days using only single-use tents without chopping trees or killing cannibals, living on berries and flowers. I'm not too interested in that playthrough but I might do it just for the science of it!
