We all know of Google; there's a good chance you used it to get here. Out of curiosity, I decided to uncover its most frequent questions and was thoroughly entertained by the ensuing sheer randomness. Do people really remember and care about the children's-book character Caillou enough to inquire about his baldness? Apparently, yes. From scientific to strange to crude, for one reason or another, we Google the silliest of things. Here are fifty answers to the most-asked "why" questions searched on Google.

Cucumbers vs. Cat? The internet is a weird place . . .

Questions 1–10

Here are the 10 most common "why" questions searched on Google and their very real and serious answers.

1. Why is there a leap day?

Simple—to keep our calendar on track by compensating for Earth's imperfect orbit of the Sun.

2. Why is the sky blue?

Well, it does "cry" a lot. But it's because blue light's short wavelengths aren't easily absorbed and bounce off the sky, creating a sapphire hue.

3. Why you always lying?

Haters gonna hate.

4. Why is my poop green?

As gross as this is, let's be honest—the internet is great for saving face while asking such taboo questions. This happens through food coloring, bile, or an excess of vegetables. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist.

5. Why should we hire you?

I is kind, I is smart, I is important.

6. Why are cats afraid of cucumbers?

Debate continues over the numerous instances of cats being terrified by cucumbers. Theories range from "the cats are simply scared of any object unexpectedly placed behind them" to "cucumbers resemble snakes and trigger an inherent flight reflex."

Answer: Physically, our DNA and genes cause our bodies to have different phenotypes or physical traits. As for personalities, there's some controversy in regards to the nature vs. nurture debates, but I tend to place stock in both--perhaps certain characteristics we're born with lead us towards certain habits, but our environment and peers also influence us.

Question: Why do I waste my time with someone who doesn't give me theirs?

Answer: Humans crave companionship and enjoy a challenge. If someone is giving you at least some attention, then we tend to fight for it because it feels like a "victory" when you successfully gain it. But I think you already know what I'm about to say--try to find people who value you as much as you do them. If you can't seem to encounter them where you're at, look in a new environment.

Question: Why does my baby sister eat soap?

Answer: Maybe she's been picking up some not-so-nice words from you.

Question: Why do people have sex?

Answer: Scientific answer: Most people have an innate urge to; a "sex drive". Humans very possibly evolved in a manner where our bodies reward us for sex with pleasure to help the reproductive cycle and ensure our species' survival.

Casual answer: People are horny and like how it feels.

Question: Why do I get panic attacks?

Answer: Panic attacks aren't well understood, but can be induced by big life changes like moving into the workforce, having a baby, or getting divorced. Genetics may also play a role. Tips to help avoid or reduce the severity of panic attacks include getting enough sleep, exercise, and social interaction as well as practicing breathing/relaxation techniques.

Question: Why is my daughter assigned Spanish homework?

Answer: Foreign languages are part of the curriculum. If you're American, Spanish makes sense since Mexico is so close.

Question: Why are my friends always late?

Answer: "People aren't against you, but they're for themselves."

If it's convenient for a person to be late, they will be. You can't really change it, but you can help matters by telling them a false arrival time that's earlier than when you'll actually get there, evening the playing field and hopefully having both parties arrive at around the same time. That said, shoutout to the people who actually come at the scheduled slot, or even better, a bit early.

Answer: Genetics and nutrition determine height. It's something about yourself that you can't really help, so try not to worry about it!

Some of these were hilarious, yet there were many which surprised me. I mean, some people asking those questions vs. them being one of the top most asked questions... well definitely surprising.
