It’s no question that everybody wants to be happy. And because the United States continues to decline on the World Happiness Report each year, the quest for finding true happiness can seem a bit hopeless at times. But, just because numbers show the average rate of happiness in the country is declining, doesn’t mean your individual happiness should as well! Here are seven steps to add to your routine to find true happiness.

1. Experience life

Have you had your eye on a pair of designer shoes that seem to promise everlasting happiness? Well, not to burst your bubble, but research shows that the happiest people in life spend more money on experiences than on material things. Instead of buying the shoes, go for a concert ticket instead.

2. Practice gratitude

Having an attitude of gratitude is a powerful action to use against all the negativity in the world. Try writing down three things you’re grateful every night. This habit could be just what you need to achieve inner happiness.

3. Connect with others

Among your 500 friends on social media, how many of those people do you see on a regular basis? Studies show that taking time to truly connect and spend time with others face-to-face increases happiness levels. And that counts for loved ones and even coworkers or classmates. Despite the world’s new love for antisocial behavior, human interaction is good for the soul.

4. Lend a hand

Even though going out of your way for someone can seem tedious at times, science tells us that helping others plays a significant role in your overall happiness. Whether you dedicate your time to volunteer work, or you simply hold a door open for someone, lending a hand can change your life for the better.

5. Live in the moment

Many of us are so focused on what happened yesterday or what’s going to happen tomorrow or next week or in 15 years, rather than taking the time to focus and enjoy today. Take a moment, right now, to just be still and breathe. Studies show that those who practice mindfulness and meditation are happier (and healthier!) than most.

6. Surround yourself with goodness

If bad habits or toxic relationships are preventing you from being happy, it’s time to consider removing them. Ask yourself what and who brings you the most joy and surround yourself with the best of the best.

7. Be kind to yourself

As adults, we are faced with a daunting to-do list that never seems to get any shorter—no matter what we manage to do. But you should still take some time to be kind to yourself. Exercise and get your body moving even just a little each day, and aim to get a decent amount of sleep (Trust me: Exercise and sleep make a huge difference in your happiness, health, and mood). Be patient with yourself when you make mistakes. And overall, believe in yourself and your capacity to improve who you are and recognize all you’re accomplishing. So, smile! You’re doing so much better than you think you are!

PPE is vital within any site environment, in order to ensure that your workforce are adequately equipped to carry out their work safely and to ensure that they are fully protected from potential safety hazards. A contractor has a legal obligation to demonstrate a duty of care towards its workforce. A number of sites require a five point PPE uniform, which must be worn at all times, in order to comply with safety requirements.

The five points are:

Hard hat (to include a chin strap when working from height or in windy conditions);

High visibility vest;

Steel toe capped boots;

Gloves;

Safety goggles.

Some jobs need all 5 types of protective clothing to be worn at all times, demonstrating their respect for the workforce and safety regulations.
