What does the Bible say about only the strong survive?

He uses the foolish things to confound the wise and the weak things to confound the strong (1 Cor 1:7). In God's world, it's not the strong who survive, it's those who let the One who is strongest help them walk through life and carry what they were never meant to carry.

Not so...

As believers of Jesus Christ we have someone who is stronger and wiser than we could ever be. We serve a God who carries all strength and power. I was listening to someone who happens to be one of my favs mention something on a normal day I’d be all over it like greens and fried okra. But lately I’ve been realizing that I’m not sure if it’s really the strong who survive. The Bible says the race is not given to the swift nor the strong (Ecc 9:11). It also says God's grace is sufficient for us (2 Cor 12:9) when we are going through something that just seems unbearable. God says His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Cor 12:9). It doesn’t say when His strength comes together with our strength.

So what exactly does that mean for you and for me?

It means that when we go through things that could and should potentially take us out, there is a strength that we don’t carry that gets us through. To be honest I know I would not have made it this far in my own strength. Some things are just too heavy to carry on your own. When God says that his strength is made perfect in our weakness, he’s saying his power is made perfect and complete in our weakness. God doesn’t need us to be strong to survive. He needs us to cast our cares and burdens on him (1 Pet 5:7). He wants us to let him help us (Psalm 121:2). He wants to be our strength (Psalm 46:1).

I believe the world would want us to believe that only the strong survive but what happens when you have no more strength left. What happens when your strength isn’t enough? What happens when you aren’t enough anymore?

Listen, this past year I know that God has been the one carrying me through. I know that it wasn’t my strength. I know that it wasn’t my power. I know that it was only the grace of God that I didn’t lose my mind. Here’s the thing… life, folks and the enemy will try to make you think you have to do this thing alone and in your own strength.

NOT SO!

That’s a trick of the enemy to isolate you and make you think that no one understands, no one cares or that you have to handle it by yourself.

NOT SO!

Allow people in.

Allow God in.

Allow Him to carry what you were never meant to carry.

God never calls the strongest. He calls those who are willing and obedient. He uses the foolish things to confound the wise and the weak things to confound the strong (1 Cor 1:7). In God's world, it’s not the strong who survive, it’s those who let the One who is strongest help them walk through life and carry what they were never meant to carry.

What mental disorder causes selfishness?

What Is Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is one of several personality disorders. People with this condition have an inflated idea of themselves and a need for lots of attention from other people. It’s human nature to be selfish and boastful now and then, but true narcissists take it to an extreme. They also don’t value others’ feelings or ideas and ignore others’ needs. But there’s a difference between being self-absorbed -- often called a narcissist -- and having narcissistic personality disorder. NDP is a mental illness. If you can recognize a few of the traits below, that’s someone who’s self-absorbed. If they have most of them, they might have the disorder. People with NPD may not have high self-esteem. Their NPD may be more related to feelings of entitlement. A therapist can get to the bottom of it.
