It shows the number of fatalities associated with various explosions, structural fires, flood disasters, coal mine disasters, and other notable accidents caused by the effects of negligence of the human race connected to improper architecture, planning, construction, design, and more. Purposeful disasters, such as terrorist attacks, are omitted; those events can be found at List of battles and other violent events by death toll. While all of the listed accidents caused immediately massive numbers of lives lost, further widespread deaths were connected to many of these incidents, often the result of prolonged or lingering effects of the initial catastrophe. This was the case particularly in such cases as exposure to contaminated air, toxic chemicals or radiation, some years later due to lung damage, cancer, etc. Some numbers in the table below reflect both immediate and delayed deaths related to accidents, while many do not.

Read More »This book contains a variety of mystery, violence and romance all at the same time. I rated it 12 and up due to there being gore and violence, sexual references and mild language. I wouldn't recommend this for younger children.
I have watched the first season of the TV show. Despite enjoying it, I thought it was a bit too gory for a child of my age (I am 11 years old). I heard that it was based off of a book by Kass Morgan, so being curious, I decided to give it a read. I was shocked as the book is so much different to the TV show! It is definitely more appropriate with less GORY violence. It discusses topics such as teen pregnancy, drugs and death sentences. It does have some positive role models like Bellamy, who protects his little sister, but given that all of the 100 are juvenile delinquents, of course there are going to be characters that are murderers. It uses mild language such as "a--hole" and "bastard" etc. It isn't a long read; I read it in one day. It is a must have for fans of "The Hunger Games." I say it would be okay for mature tweens.
