John Wick Guns

The critically-acclaimed John Wick movie franchise, starring Keanu Reeves in the titular role, currently spans three movies. As of January 2022, the fourth and fifth installments are currently in production. Chapter 4 is slated for release in 2023, and the existence of Chapter 5 is confirmed, but the production team has not yet given a release date. If you’ve ever asked yourself, “What guns does John Wick use,” here’s everything you need to know about the interesting arsenal he carries in the first three movies.

John Wick (2014)

Heckler & Koch P30L

By far, the most iconic of John Wick’s firearms in the original installment is the Heckler & Koch P30L, the long-slide version of the P30 pistol. The model featured in John Wick is chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum and uses the same 15-round magazines as the original. A pair of P30L pistols is first sighted in the digging scene, inside a case alongside two Glock 26s and an extensive collection of Continental coins. After uncovering his weapon cases, Wick uses one of the P30L pistols as his primary weapon in some of the movie’s most famous scenes, including the home invasion, most of the chase sequence at the nightclub, and in the dock battle. Wick’s P30L is known for featuring a large, custom compensator, helping him reduce the muzzle rise and keep his weapon under control.

Glock 26

The other, shorter pistols spotted in the gun case are a pair of third-generation Glock 26 pistols. Both subcompact 9x19mm handguns are entirely unmodified and fitted with standard 10-round magazines, making them the most readily-accessible John Wick gun. Wick famously draws his Glock 26 to engage multiple henchmen in the bathhouse, one of which he eliminates by performing a failure drill. He then transitions from the G26 back to his P30L before the chase sequence into the nightclub. After he runs out of ammunition for his H&K pistol, he transitions again to the G26 in the scene’s final moments.

Kel-Tec KSG

The KSG is a tactical pump-action 12 gauge shotgun released by Kel-Tec in 2011. It features 2 magazine tubes, each carrying up to 7 shells for a maximum capacity of 15 rounds. In a sequence on the New York streets, Wick exits a building with a commandeered KSG, fitted with a foregrip and a holographic sight, using it against one of the antagonists in the fan-favorite “Where is he?” scene.

John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)

Glock 34 (Taran Tactical Combat Master package)

Wick’s primary handgun in most of Chapter 2 is a Glock 34, the long-slide version of the Glock 17. It features numerous Taran Tactical modifications, including a flared magazine well and a titanium nitride-finished barrel. Wick acquired this gun in Rome during the gun sommelier spot and uses it during the concert shootout and in the first third of the catacombs scene.

Kimber Warrior 1911

The Kimber Warrior is a variant of the 1911 pistol by Kimber Manufacturing. It is chambered in .45 ACP and features an accessory rail and front and rear slide serrations. Wick acquires the Kimber from the Bowery King in a memorable scene (“Somebody PLEASE get this man a gun!”), intentionally supplying Wick with just 7 rounds. Despite that, he successfully uses it in the art gallery shootout, transitioning to a fallen henchman’s pistol after running out of ammunition.

Taran Tactical TR-1 Ultralight

The Taran Tactical TR-1 is a competition shooting AR-15 chambered in 5.56x45mm. The particular configuration used in John Wick 2 included several modifications, including BCM Mod 0 stock, a compensator, a Trijicon Accupoint scope, and Magpul PMAGs with +5 extensions. Wick acquires the TR-1 from the Rome gun sommelier. During the catacombs scene, he retrieves the rifle from a hidden stash, allowing him to switch away from his Glock 34 and return fire more effectively.

Benelli M4 Super 90 (with Taran Tactical upgrades)

The Benelli M4 Super 90 is one of the world’s most well-known tactical 12 gauge semi-automatic shotguns. Wick’s Benelli M4 features Taran Tactical furniture and modifications intended for competition shooting, including a fixed stock, a titanium nitride bolt, and a shell holder. Like the Glock 34 and the TR-1, Wick also obtains this weapon from the gun sommelier in Rome. He uses it for the last third of the catacombs scene after running out of ammunition with the TR-1.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)

Taran Tactical STI 2011 Combat Master

The Taran Tactical STI 2011 Combat Master is an extensively modified STI 2011, a double-stack competition version of the 1911 pistol. Wick’s 2011 is explicitly described as chambered in 9x19mm Major, a high-powered version of 9x19mm Luger for IPSC and USPSA competition shooting. He acquires this handgun from Charon’s armory alongside a set of USPSA-style 23-round magazines, using it during the Continental shootout.

Remington 1875

The Remington 1875 is a six-shot, single-action revolver produced from 1875 to 1889. The model used by John Wick in Chapter 3 is chambered in .44-40 Winchester. Wick acquired the revolver in the antique gun museum alongside a single .44-40 round on display. After realizing the cartridge doesn’t fit in the cylinder, he disassembles another revolver on display, using its parts to convert the 1875 and chamber his .44-40 cartridge. Although it is one of the more unusual John Wick guns, it is well-known for referencing a similar scene in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

SIG MPX Carbine (with Taran Tactical upgrades)

The MPX Carbine is a 16”-barreled version of the SIG MPX submachine gun, chambered in 9x19mm. The model featured in John Wick 3 has numerous modifications, including a Taran Tactical +11 baseplate. Wick uses the MPX in conjunction with his Glock 34 to engage opponents in the first half of the Continental shootout.

Benelli M2 Super 90 (with Taran Tactical upgrades)

The Benelli M2 is a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun, fulfilling a similar role to the M4 in John Wick 2 and fitted with the same competition shooting upgrades (shell holder, fixed stock, nitrided bolt). When a group of armored opponents arrives during the second part of the Continental shootout, Wick notices the 9mm projectiles his MPX and Glock 34 fire aren’t effective enough. He runs back to the armory (“Winston! I need more firepower!”) and gets the Benelli from Charon, who explains it is loaded with “12 gauge steel slugs, armor-piercing,” allowing him to resume the fight.
