Fans have been glued to their screens from the moment Love Island’s 2022 series kicked off, and it’s been one to remember. It has certainly been a whirlwind series, and fans will not want to miss a beat as it gets closer to the final – although with all the drama of Casa Amor, the fireworks of Movie Night and the fun and games of the recent talent show, it feels like we’ve been through a whole lot already. There’s one thing we can’t quite get our head around though – and that’s the cast’s fondness for waking up in the morning with their shades on. Just why do the Islanders wear their sunglasses in bed? We’ve got the answer right here…

Why do the Love Islanders wear sunglasses in bed?

The issue of sunglasses in bed is one which has left viewers baffled – but apparently there’s a pretty simple explanation for it. Former Islander Elma Pazar – who took part in the 2019 series of the show – took to social media to explain to a fan that it’s all to do with the bright lights in the bedroom – as well as how everybody looks when they’ve been asleep for hours. ‘The light is so bright when it flicks on and also I don’t know many people that wake up pretty in the mornings,’ she said. Is it normal to put on sunglasses in bed or is it just a love island thing? #LoveIsland — 💫 (@RoseDAnnor) July 22, 2021 The only thing I’ve taken away from Love Island is that it looks really cool to put on sunglasses as soon as you wake up — Captain Morgan (@morgharr) July 28, 2021 going to adopt the love island behavior of putting sunglasses on the moment I wake up — Noa (@demonwife3000) July 28, 2021 the sunglasses in bed in the morning aspect of love Island is so funny to me. Get an eye mask!! — Zoë Ligon (@thongria) July 29, 2021

‘The more of the face hidden before it’s washed the better.’

If you want to wake up looking like a Love Islander in the morning, you can get your own pair of sunglasses from the 2021 Love Island range, available from BadHero and I Saw it First. The latter are also the official fashion suppliers of the show, and make weekly drops of clothes to the villa based on the Islanders’ individual tastes, after meeting with them prior to the show and getting an idea of their style. They’ve also got a dedicated Love Island section on their site, where you can buy outfits based on each individual contestant’s look.

Love Island continues on ITV2 tonight at 9pm.

How long can you survive without food at a water shelter?

The Rule of Threes states, humans can survive three weeks without food, three days without water, three hours without shelter, and three minutes without oxygen. In an emergency evacuation, hopefully oxygen won't be an issue and finding a way to shelter will be a planned-for event using a designated emergency route.

The Rule of Threes states, humans can survive three weeks without food, three days without water, three hours without shelter, and three minutes without oxygen. In an emergency evacuation, hopefully oxygen won't be an issue and finding a way to shelter will be a planned-for event using a designated emergency route. Three weeks is a long time to go without food, but, even in the worst of emergencies, food should be available long before those three weeks go by. The most likely issue that arises in an emergency situation is a lack of water, at least clean, drinkable water. Planning for this possibility is essential. Portable water comes in many forms - bottled, packets, jugs - and though it's quite heavy, weighing in at 8.34 lbs per US gallon, it's easy to stock. Having sufficient water in your GO-bag is important, and having a way to sanitize water is a good idea as well. A vessel, ie. a bottle, that has a wide mouth, measurement lines to be able to measure out the water for purification tabs, and a tight cap is essential to being able to deal with sanitization. Water is life. Having sufficient, potable water available in an emergency situation can be life saving.
